Yesterday, I called a company for help with a decision. I’m taking a business course from them this August. After signing up, I got an upsell. Spend $197 more for a certain increased amount of value I’m not sure I needed. I’m sort of iffy on taking this course but it was highly recommended and the price was right.
Here’s where the psychic comes in. I called the company to ask some questions to see if the upsell ticket was right for me. If you’d called me to ask whether a service I offered was good for you, I’d weigh your energy against the offer. I might say your name with the name of the service and see if you were an energetic match.
Seana (not really her name), who answered the phone, simply repeated the list of what their email already said $197 bought. But is it necessary for me, I asked? I mean, I’m not really sure why I’m going. I’ll meet new people, get away for a few days, may learn something helpful to my clients or me, and who doesn’t like staying at a beautiful hotel?
But do I need to invest more in it? I wanted Seana to do for me what I’d do. Why couldn’t I just close my eyes and simply move into a probable future?
Probably because I had something at stake in this game. So my nerves were jangled and my wallet was being rattled.
Seana didn’t have to be the best psychic in town but a little intuition would come through to me as warmth and connection. People speaking by rote make me feel sad and alone. Hearing the same email in her voice instead of my own didn’t clarify anything. Of course, this $197 add-on was guaranteed not to last long. Better snap it up quick.
Feeling undecided and sad, I thanked her but in a dispirited voice. “Feel free to call again,” she said. “I’m always happy to help.”
But I hadn’t been helped. Because I wanted a connection that wasn’t there. (Does this happen to you?) The famous Dr. Carl Jung divided people into types. It’s said he got the idea from looking at astrology. I’m an intuitive feeler type and maybe Seana’s a sensate thinker. Sensate would mean “get the job done fast and efficiently. Thinker would mean from the rational left brain.
Intuitive types are more right-brained. We don’t see lists as definitive. She gave me the facts and nothing but the facts, no color or shading. That was her job.
My perception of her job is to delve into the person, make an authentic connection. To her, it must’ve sounded as if I was asking something unanswerable. How could she imagine what my experience would be? And her job was to upsell whether that was right for me or not.
What if everyone remembered they were psychic? Psychic like a verb. Being psychic. Using intuition. Tuning in so when asked a question the response would be heartfelt and specific?
